Volunteer Information sessions

The ARMADALE sessions are held at our office located at 67 Sutherland Road, Armadale

If you are driving, please note that we do not have on-site parking, and to be aware of street parking restrictions before 6 pm. For public transport users, Armadale Station & the No 6 tram (Stop 40) on High Street are close to our office.

The SUNSHINE sessions are held at The Visy Cares Hub, 80b Harvester Road, Sunshine. If you are driving, there is a large car park adjacent to the building, and Sunshine railway station is a relatively short walk away.

Creating confident volunteers – Boundary setting and self-care – Date Wednesday 22nd May 9.30am – 12pm

When we work one to one with someone it’s important that we understand the boundaries of our role and how to communicate these boundaries to the people we work with. Sometimes it’s hard to say no however it is vital for self-care and so we don’t overstep the responsibilities of our role or burn out. In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn about how to set boundaries effectively and information about how to recognise signs of burn out and undertake self-care to prevent it.

Creating confident volunteers – It’s my choice! – Wednesday 12th June 9.30am-12pm

Based on the It’s My Choice toolkit developed by Inclusion Melbourne in partnership with RMIT University this training workshop outlines the 9 principles of choice and explores the key issues surrounding choice and things to consider when support people with disability to make informed choices.

Creating confident volunteers – Communicating with people with disability – Wednesday 19th June 9.30am -12am

This workshop will equip volunteers and managers of Volunteers with knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with people with disability. Participants will have an opportunity to learn handy hints and useful approaches for working with people with disability.
